Teacher Qualifications: We checked the qualifications, teaching backgrounds, and professional music experience each school actually publishes. They need to know proper techniques to avoid injuries.

Program Flexibility: Not everyone wants a rigid, exam-focused learning path. We checked whether studios offer different formats, levels, instruments, or ways to adapt lessons to individual goals.

4Performance Opportunities: Playing at home is useful, but live performance can build confidence too. We looked for recitals, concerts, ensembles, or other opportunities where students can perform.

Age Appropriateness: Some studios focus on early childhood development, while others cater to adults as well. We compared which age groups and learning stages each school actually serves.

Students also get performance opportunities to gain confidence. Plus, they can access practice videos, progress reports, and an online portal where they can submit practice videos for feedback.

Their university graduate teachers are highly qualified, with music, education, or combined music-and-education qualifications. Because of this, they know how to adapt the lessons around each student’s repertoire and goals.

I have had the most wonderful experience learning saxophone at Shine Music for 11 years. Their lovely teachers have built my skills, and fostered my passion for saxophone. They’ve taken me from a beginner to being proficient in saxophone, passing several AMEB exams along the way. In addition, the admin team are top notch and made the process of enrolments, rescheduling lessons, and organising payments absolutely seamless. This is my first term with Mike and I have really enjoyed it. There is a structured curriculum to follow which suits me and Mike is a calm, steadying influence. He is not only teaching guitar but reading music, how to sing and the importance of timing, so loving the journey he is taking me on.

Creates a Fun, Relaxed Environment

My sons have piano lessons with Mike and we couldn’t be happier. They’ve had other tutors previously but they much prefer Mike’s style of teaching. In addition to his deep knowledge of musical theory, Mike creates a fun, relaxed environment which allows his students to be curious and grow their love of music alongside their technical ability. Highly recommend!

It Has Been Wonderful Watching My Daughter Learn the Instruments

My daughter has been with circle music for 3 years now, first learning drums with Matt and then piano with Tenaia. It has been wonderful watching my daughter learn the instruments and become more confident, all the teachers there are amazing. My favourite part about circle music are the opportunities they give the children and adults to perform in their half yearly and yearly concerts. It’s a great community event and the students get a chance to showcase their talent and all the hard work they put in during the year.
