The 5 Best Psychotherapists in Sydney to Help You Heal and Grow
There was a time when even stepping into my own bedroom would trigger a panic attack. I had associated it with work, and it was causing me real anxiety, which caused me to spend months sleeping on my couch.
What helped me recover was consistent psychotherapy sessions with my therapist.
But getting there wasn’t easy. Before I found someone who truly helped, I also met with therapists whose approach didn’t match my personality and needs. What made it worse was the lack of a trustworthy place to turn for psychotherapy recommendations.
That experience is why my Best Sydney team and I decided to be the resource I wish I’d had. We looked for psychotherapists in Sydney who aren’t just qualified on paper, but also make you feel understood and safe.
Here are the ones we found.
How much does a psychotherapist charge in Sydney?
Psychotherapists in Sydney typically charge $150 to $300 per one-hour session, depending on the clinic. The session type, such as individual, couple, or family therapy, also affects the final price of the service.

Sally Walsh is a registered clinical psychotherapist and a registered mental health practitioner with 14 years of experience.
With her strong qualifications and background, we’re confident that she knows how to help clients feel understood and genuinely guided throughout.
In fact, her clients shared that Sally created a safe and non-judgmental space for them to process their emotions and explore their feelings.
We also find her approaches varied, which means clients can receive support that fits their unique needs. She uses Gestalt therapy, depth enquiry, and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT).
It’s also great to know that she handles individual, marriage, and family therapy. This is another huge plus because clients don’t need to look elsewhere if their concerns extend beyond personal struggles.
The only downside we see is that this is a one-woman clinic, which could limit scheduling. You may need to book well in advance to secure your preferred time slot.

Remarkable counsellor
“I’ve had the privilege of working with Camryn as my support worker, and I can confidently say she is one of the most compassionate, understanding, and dedicated people I’ve encountered. She’s always provided a safe, non-judgmental space where I felt truly heard and supported.
What makes Camryn stand out is her natural ability to listen deeply, offer thoughtful guidance, and validate my feelings without ever making me feel small. She’s helped me work through some really tough moments, not just by offering practical support, but by being emotionally present and genuinely empathetic.
It’s no surprise to me that Camryn is now becoming a counsellor , She’s already so well-suited to the role. Her calm presence, emotional intelligence, and strong communication skills make her an ideal fit for anyone needing support, guidance, or simply someone to walk beside them through challenging times.
I’m incredibly grateful for the help I’ve received from Camryn , and I know she’ll make a remarkable counsellor. Anyone who gets the chance to work with her is truly lucky.”

3. Dipak Jilka Psychotherapist

Address: 185 Elizabeth St
Contact Details: +61402840104
Operating Hours: Monday – Friday: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM
Dipak Jilka is a one-man clinic with a great location. The clinic itself gives a cosy, homey vibe. It’s a type of place where you’ll feel more relaxed the moment you walk in.
Pair that warm environment with Dipak’s calming, supportive presence, and it becomes easier to open up about sensitive topics.
One strength of this clinic is that it offers services that aren’t available at other clinics. One great example is Dipak’s men-focused therapy, which addresses the unique needs of men.
In fact, most of Dipak’s clients are men. They shared that Dipak really knows how to work around the emotions and thinking process of men, making the therapy even more effective.
What’s even greater is that Dipak offers a free 15-minute consultation, which is really helpful for those who want to get a feel of his approach before committing.
Great help
“Dipak has been a huge help for me over the past 8 months.
He’s really helped me understand myself better, my strengths, my challenges, and that’s made a big difference in my marriage.
One of the most helpful things has been learning what issues are actually mine to work on and what things come from my partner. That took a lot of pressure off and let me focus on the real challenges instead of getting stuck on things that weren’t mine to fix.
Because of this, I feel like I have a healthier relationship with myself and a happier marriage.
I’ve recommended Dipak’s counselling to friends, and they’ve had very positive results too.”
– Mr. Valentin Barrera Cabrera, Google Review
Incredible therapist
“I have been with Dipak for several months. He has been an incredible therapist. From our very first conversation, Dipak explained the process as that of going for a bushwalk where we can stop to pause and talk about something or keep walking together. He has not only been professional and knowledgeable but also genuinely caring and sincere. His guidance is heartfelt, and I always felt that he had my best interests at heart. I feel fully supported throughout the process and in the driver’s seat as we discuss many aspects of life. I would highly recommend Dipak’s services and sessions. A true, compassionate professional.”

4. Associated Counsellors & Psychologists

Address: 1 Arundel St, Glebe
Contact Details: +61280941796
Operating Hours:
- Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Friday: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Saturday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Associated Counsellors & Psychologists stood out to us because of their strong reputation across Sydney. They have multiple locations, and their Glebe branch is particularly convenient for those who want accessible, inner-city support.
What makes them even more impressive is their large team of counsellors and psychologists, each specialising in various areas.
They have counsellors focused on anger management, marriage counselling, and trauma. This gives us the confidence that they can offer a more personalised service, since they don’t have to juggle multiple clients with different issues.
It’s also reassuring to know that Associated Counsellors & Psychologists offer both in-person and online sessions, making it easier for clients to access support wherever they are.
It’s also easy to make an appointment with the clinic. Their phone staff is accommodating and promptly schedules you with the right practitioner.
The only disadvantage is that they’re not open during weekends – not good news for those whose free time is only Saturday and Sunday.
Easy booking
“The process of booking a psychologist was very straight forward and easy. Thank you”
– Ms. Camilla Bellstedt, Google Review
Quick response
“Quick responses and offered alternative locations and psychologists. Got back to me in a short time to confirm. Happy with service.”

5. Blue Horizon Counselling

Address: 503/368 Sussex St
Contact Details: +61403866997
Operating Hours: Monday – Sunday: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Blue Horizon Counselling is another clinic with multiple locations, giving those who need it more accessibility to professional and genuine support. You can find them in Sydney, North Sydney, and the CBD.
One thing we appreciate about them is that they started offering online and phone counselling. They initially didn’t really have teleconsultations, but have started offering them due to high demand.
We find this to be a good indicator that they really listen to what patients need.
Their range of services is also something we’re looking for in a clinic. They can professionally help with relationships, addiction, and grief. Having all these under one roof is such a convenience if you’re dealing with multiple challenges.
Their counsellors and therapists are also one-of-a-kind. They provide tools so you can create actionable plans without feeling pushed too hard. They also provide resources you can access outside of the session.
Another plus is that they also assist in processing Medicare support, proving that they genuinely want to make therapy more accessible and affordable for their clients.
The only catch? They are really in demand, which makes scheduling a bit challenging.
Great service
