The 5 best window tinting in Sydney for protection and privacy

Range of products and services: The more types of tint a business can provide for vehicles, homes, and businesses, the better. We gave bonus points for additional products and services like security film and car interior care.

Industry experience and credentials: We prioritised businesses with at least 10 years’ experience in the industry. Even better if the business has accreditations, awards, or a portfolio of impressive projects for big clients.

Business hours: While we couldn’t find any 24/7 window tinting shops, we looked for those with extended operating hours. This includes at least partial (appointment-based) weekend service.

Customer reviews: We looked for companies with lots (ideally hundreds) of positive reviews, especially if they mentioned high product quality and excellent service.

Window tint is more than just a way to make your car look cooler (though that’s a great reason by itself). It helps you actually BE cooler, literally, by blocking heat and UV rays from the outside.

It minimizes glare, which makes driving safer and more comfortable, and helps with temperature regulation during all seasons.

In homes or office buildings, a good set of tinted windows keeps your electric bill lower, and affords more privacy for your family. But this isn’t something you can install yourself. Call in the professionals with our suggestions for the best window tinting services in Sydney.

How much does window tinting cost in Sydney?

Window tinting in Sydney will cost from $320 to over $495. There are usually several levels of tint available, with greater protection and more advanced technology adding to the final price. If you opt for an extra-tough security film, this will cost extra as well.

Tint a Car is certified by the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency, which aims to protect citizens’ health. They offer ceramic car window tinting in black and other colours, using the darkest legal shade possible.

We got on the phone with one of their staff members, and got a great crash course on the different types and levels of tint available. Besides blocking UV rays and heat more effectively, higher-grade tints are built to cause no electronic signal interference through the glass.

The staff member let us know that Tint a Car also offers a special paint job protection coating, which is better than conventional ceramic coating. They also have products and accessories for interior protection, to repel food and drink stains, cracking, or mould.

Car window tinting starts at $295, with a 30-day money-back guarantee and a lifetime warranty. If you need to get somewhere while your car is being worked on, they can lend you a courtesy car for the duration, which we found really considerate.

Pros

  • Several tinting options
  • Paint job and interior protection products available
  • Money-back guarantee
  • Lifetime warranty

Cons

  • Limited weekend hours
  • No stated pricing for home window tint

They have great customer service and were happy to answer my questions. I just wish they were open for service on Sundays.

Sydney City Solartint has been in business for over 20 years, offering lifetime warranty to all of their window tinting and film, which is always reassuring to hear.

We also inquired if their specialists could come to our location and apply the tint there (couldn’t hurt to ask!), but they informed us that this wouldn’t be possible.

On the plus side, a special extra-thick security film for windows is available — besides a bunch of glass tinting options. This is a big plus for me personally, and something that not every provider offers.

We were able to get a free quote for tint on all our car and home windows, which was nice (though we had to fill in a form to get it). We were even offered an additional ceramic coating service for our car, which was unexpected but welcome.

  • 20+ years of industry experience
  • Security film available
  • Lifetime warranty

Cons

  • Need to fill up and send a form for price quote

I can’t recommend him highly enough

“I had my car windows & sunroof tinted by Kenny at Sydney City Solartint. The new workshop is very neat with plenty of space & was super easy to locate. The quality of Kenny’s work is far superior to others who I have experienced.”

They also installed frosted windows for customer privacy.

Universal Tint keeps licensed and trained staff on call to install their products. The business favors reputable 3M window films, as well as Gtechniq products.
