The 8 best go karting in Sydney for every kind of racers
Quick – what pops into your head when you think of Sydney?
Done? I’m willing to bet you answered either the Opera House or the Harbour Bridge.
Fair enough, but there’s more to the city beyond these iconic attractions. And if we’re talking about the hidden thrill that’s making a comeback among locals and tourists alike – go karting is what it’s all about.
It’s the perfect way to unleash your inner speedster – plus, you don’t need a racing license or a souped-up car. You just show up, strap in, and race – though bookmarking this article about the best go karting tracks in Sydney wouldn’t hurt either.
1. Hyper Karting

Address: Level 5 Car Park, 207 Park Rd S, Moore Park NSW
Phone: (02) 8311 4124
Business hours: Monday to Sunday – 9:00 AM to 12:00 AM
If you haven’t checked out Hyper Karting yet, you’re seriously missing out. It’s one of the newest spots in Sydney’s go kart scene, and probably the most unique one out there.
I really had no expectations before getting there. But, as soon as I stepped in, I was greeted by the open air, city views in the background, and this cool industrial vibe that makes it feel kind of futuristic.
The karts themselves are on another level.
Hyper Karting uses RiMo electric go karts imported from Germany, and these things aren’t your ordinary petrol rides. They’ve got way better acceleration, more responsive handling, and smooth weight distribution.
One of the coolest features has to be the F1-style steering wheel. It has a live digital display that shows your real-time stats – like lap time, speed, and even your race position.
Oh, and there’s a boost button on the wheel that gives you a burst of speed every 60 seconds, like something from a video game.
Pro tip:
If you’re into next-level fun, you have to try their cutting-edge virtual reality arena, where you can jump into a totally different world between races.

- Saturday – 9:00 AM to 12:00 AM
- Sunday – 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM
I had the chance to experience Fastlane Karting in Minto.
The setup is really spacious, and they have this solid viewing platform, so even though you’re not racing, you still get a great view of all the action. The main circuit is 580 meters long and has 15 corners, styled like a street circuit.
I also love that there’s an outdoor firepit and BBQ area, where you can see people grilling sausages and hanging out by the fire between races.
Additionally, they run their own Junior Race League, which is a proper training program for kids who want to get into karting.
Pro tip:
For the younger drivers, there’s a separate 180-metre kids’ track, and it has a family viewing area right beside it. This means you can cheer on your best racers.
3. Spitfire Go Karts, Paintball, & Laser Tag

Address: Cne George Street & Station Avenue, Concord West NSW
Phone: (02) 8765 0039
Business hours:
- Monday – 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Tuesday – 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Wednesday to Friday – 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM
- Saturday – 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM
- Sunday – 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Spitfire’s track has an awesome mix of wide lanes, long straight stretches, and tight, technical bends.
The track itself was built back in 2013, but they upgraded their entire fleet in 2018 to the brand-new Sodi RT8 karts from Europe. These karts are powered by specially-tuned Honda GX270 four-stroke engines.
Believe it or not – the acceleration is no joke!
As soon as you hit the gas, it just launches you forward. And the best part? You can actually slide through corners and pull off controlled power drifts.
Pro tip:
Book an early time slot – preferably on a weekday. You’ll avoid the weekend crowds, get more track time, and may even have the circuit to yourself.
4. Indy 800 Kart Track

Website: https://www.indy800karts.com.au/
Address: 446 Wilberforce Road, Wilberforce NSW
Phone: (02) 4575 1265
Business hours:
- Sunday to Monday – 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM
- Wednesday to Friday – 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM
- Saturday – 9:30 AM to 8:00 PM
Did you know that the Indy 800 is considered Sydney’s best outdoor track? And I kind of get why.
This place is tucked away just outside the city center, near the Hawkesbury River. The setting alone makes it feel more like a mini getaway than your usual karting session.
What stood out to me was the track itself. It’s a proper 800-meter circuit, and one of the longest tracks in Sydney.
The layout runs through the Butterfly Farm, so while you’re speeding through long straights, you’ll also have all this greenery around you.
The karts they use are solid and powerful with six-horsepower engines, which keeps things exciting without making it intimidating for first-timers.
I went for their 60-minute session, and it was worth it. You really get into the rhythm, allowing you to beat your own lap times.
Pro tip:
After the race, you can park by the river and chill for a bit. You can bring a bigger group so that your experience will be more fun.
5. Extreme Indoor Karting

Address: 3/66 Christina Rd, Villawood NSW
Phone: (02) 8764 8970
Business hours:
- Monday to Thursday – 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM
- Friday – 12:00 PM to 11:00 PM
- Saturday – 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM
- Sunday – 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM
Extreme Indoor Karting has been around for over 15 years. What I loved most was that they’ve got three different tracks – sprint, extreme, and family tracks.
I started on the sprint track just to warm up, which is great for all first-timers. Then, I moved on to the extreme track, which I found more intense and challenging.
And if you want to make some unforgettable memories with your kids or loved ones, it’s best to try the family track. It’s a cheap option – ideal for anyone who doesn’t like competition.
Extreme has definitely kept things exciting while holding on to that classic go karting atmosphere – friendly, competitive, and relaxing.
Apart from that, they offer a variety of kart options – like senior karts, junior karts, and even double-seaters – for your needs. Just a heads-up though, you have to be at least 13 years old to drive those.
All in all, it felt like a perfect blend of challenge and fun.
Pro tip:
If you’re planning to try the extreme track, wear thin gloves and comfortable clothes. This will make you feel better on the wheels and won’t overheat during longer sessions.
6. Ultimate Karting
– Media credit: ultimatekartingsydney
Website: https://www.ultimatekartingsydney.com.au/
Address: 40 Anderson RD, Smeaton Grange NSW
Phone: 1300 00 KART
Business hours:
- Monday – 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Tuesday to Saturday – 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM
- Sunday – 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
I checked out Ultimate Karting in South-West Sydney, and I’m so impressed with the place. They have the widest track in Australia – six metres wide and 450 metres long!
Once you’re out there, you’ll really feel it. There’s a lot of room to overtake and really push your kart without constantly battling traffic.
Additionally, this spot is completely indoors, so the weather will never be an issue.
I was fortunate enough to try their Sodi SR5s – the legit race-style karts powered by 9-horsepower Honda engines. They’re tuned perfectly for the track’s high-grip concrete surface and are super responsive, especially when going around corners.
If you have your kids with you, you can let them try their Sodi SR4s, which are built for kids and junior drivers. These karts are slightly less powerful but still pack enough to move and keep things exciting.
For those who are not fans of driving, you can get a twin-seater kart too, where you can be the passenger. However, these are only for drivers aged 18 and up.
Pro tip:
You need a UKS license to race here. If you want to have one, you may acquire a yearly membership for $10.
7. Luddenham Raceway

Address: 821-849 Luddenham Rd, Luddenham NSW
Phone: (02) 9834 2366
Business hours:
- Monday to Friday – 10:00 Am to 5:00 PM
- Saturday – 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM
- Sunday – 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM
I tried racing at Luddenham Raceway and I can say that this is an absolute playground for competitive people. This place is not just about go karting, but also includes outdoor paintball and motorsport.
Now, the go karting side is what really excites me. They’ve got two tracks, depending on your experience level.
The Rookie Circuit, with a 200-meter loop and nine corners, is perfect for kids or beginners.
On the other hand, the Pro track is the real star! It’s 600 metres long, with 12 corners, and a few elevation changes. These features excite me the most, as a competitive person.
And if you’re into night racing, there are LED lights lining the track so you can go full-speed even after the sun goes down.
Pro tip:
Bring gloves if you have them – the track has a few sharp turns and elevation shifts. Better grip means better control.
8. Wollongong Karting
– Media credit: wollongongkarts
Website: https://www.wollongongkarts.com.au/
Address: 9-11 W Dapto Rd, Kembla Grange NSW
Phone: (02) 9138 7610
Business hours: Wednesday to Sunday – 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
My experience in Wollongong Karting felt more like stepping into a mini pro racing scene. Most people call this as an “upscale racing experience” because of their responsive European Sodi Models.
They also have a Karting School, which is perfect for anyone who wants to professionally drive karts beyond casual laps.
If you’re feeling competitive, you may try their AKRA racing series. It has two heat races, with 10 laps each, 15 laps for the pre-final, and a full-on 20 laps for the grand finals.
They also have an arrive-and-drive two-stroke Yamaha class where they hook you up with a race-ready kart and a mechanic.
By the end of the day, I was amazed by the experience. It’s the kind of place that gets you hooked.
I’ll definitely be back and try more racing series.
Pro tip:
Don’t be shy about chatting with the mechanic. They’ll give you insider tips on how to get the most out of the Yamaha kart.
