The 5 Best Donut Shops in Sydney That Are Simply Doughlicious

  • Flavour Variety: We looked for bakeries that push boundaries with fun and unique flavour combinations. A great menu should balance nostalgic classics with bold new tastes.
  • Freshness and Texture: A stale pastry ruins the entire experience immediately. We prioritised places that fry their dough fresh daily for maximum fluffiness.
  • Convenience and Delivery: Sugar cravings often strike when you are stuck at your desk or running late. We favoured shops that offer seamless online ordering and reliable local delivery.
  • Dietary Options: Sharing a box of treats means considering different food allergies. We noted locations that provide thoughtful vegan or dairy-free alternatives.

Finding the best donut shop in Sydney changes your entire weekend routine. That’s because the local dessert scene is absolutely bursting with incredible bakeries.

You can find everything from classic cinnamon rings to over-the-top brioche creations stuffed with rich custard. Honestly, our team loves hunting down these hidden gems when our sweet tooth kicks in.

This guide highlights the top spots across the city that serve up serious sugar cravings. Grab a coffee, clear your schedule, and get ready to discover your new favourite local bakery!

Super friendly and professional staff, the shop is always very clean and tidy. Best donuts in Sydney. All donut varieties are also made as vegan so there’s always multiple options for vegans. Fantastic specials and great coffee. Whenever I’m in the area I always stop in and buy a bag full of donuts. Keep up the amazing work!

The jam donut is easily the best I’ve ever had

Went twice in 2 weeks! The jam donut is easily the best I’ve ever had but there’s plenty more on offer that is just as delicious. Brought a few boxes to a friend’s potluck and it was a crowd favourite. Don’t live local but always more than happy to make the trip.

Address: 15 Little Hay St, Haymarket

Contact: 0499 366 883 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday-Sunday, 9:00 AM-9:00 PM.

A mid-day sugar crash calls for a serious caffeine fix. Shortstop Coffee & Donuts makes fresh donuts on-site throughout the trading day, pairing warm treats with speciality coffee and organic milk.

One standout is the New Orleans Iced Coffee cruller. It’s made with cocoa, cold-brew coffee, vanilla bean glaze, and Market Lane espresso.

For treats, they offer raised rings, filled donuts, and crullers.

Preorders make planning a larger box much easier, with delivery service available within 15 kilometres of their stores.

However, the dietary options are limited because they don’t currently make vegan donuts and every donut contains wheat flour. Most products are vegetarian, although bacon specials may appear from time to time.

Pros

  • Fresh donuts made throughout the trading day
  • Speciality coffee and organic milk
  • Wide range of donut styles
  • Preorders available for larger boxes

Cons

  • No vegan donuts currently available
  • Uses wheat flour in every donut

The best donuts I’ve had in Sydney!
The best donuts I’ve had in Sydney! I tried the lavender donut and earl grey with rose and both were fantastic! Really fresh and a nice section of varieties and styles. The shop is a cute little takeaway place with a nicely styled storefront. The guy who served us was very nice as well. Will be back again!

Hands down the best donut there is
I discovered this place 5 years ago and had to come back for the Maple walnut and brown butter donut. Hands down the best donut there is. I initially did a pre-order however there was a breakdown in communication in admin so the shop assistant had no idea what I was talking about but quickly rectified the issue. I would definitely recommend this small quaint donut shop.

Their donuts taste the best
We’ve been buying from Dr Dough Donuts for over 6 years now. I am a huge donut fan and I’ve travelled all around Sydney to try different donuts stores and I ALWAYS go back to Dr Dough Donuts. Their donuts taste the best. The Dough has the best consistency, the icing is sweet but not sickly, I could eat a whole box in a row! What’s best is they now offer same day delivery so it’s really easy to order online. I’ve ordered for birthdays, baby showers, weddings, corporate catering and even just because it’s a Friday!…
