The 5 Best Barber Shops in Sydney That Make Every Cut Count
Men and women have their own ways of looking sharp. For us guys, it’s usually a bit simpler. Sure, we might rock some custom-made tailored suits every now and then. But the one thing we can’t compromise on? A solid haircut.
Sounds simple, right? But it’s not. Finding a barber who nails your style every single time is an art.
That’s why we hunted down the best barber shops in Sydney. Some of us even went in ourselves to test the chairs, the clippers, and the vibes. Keep scrolling to see which spots made the cut.
How much does a man’s haircut cost in Sydney?
A man’s haircut in Sydney can range from $50–$90 AUD. The final price depends on the location of the shop, the experience level of the barber, and whether the service includes extras.

Haircuts are personal, and once someone finds a barber who gets the style right every time, loyalty tends to follow. In this case, Stag Men’s Grooming came up a lot when I asked locals about their favourite barber shop.
A big part is Austin Jackson, who’s leading the shop. Clients have been sticking with him for years, so we got intrigued, and some of my teammates got a haircut from him.
Besides his relaxing shop, we were very satisfied with his attention to detail. Hairline and edges were razor-trimmed for a sharper finish. One of our researchers also noticed that his haircut seemed to grow better than the ones he’s had elsewhere.
There were also no awkward in-between phases that sometimes happen when changing styles. He seems to have done a pretty careful job blending and shaping during the initial cut.
Some of the other clients have tried different styles over time with Austin. Each time, they said he has been able to make those transitions work.
We also appreciate that he makes his services more accessible. There are bundled services and even student discounts.
Just make sure to check the shop schedule since it’s closed on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Sundays. Honestly, it’s a little inconvenient, but hey, a little scheduling is worth it.
You can always count on Austin for consistently awesome cuts
“You can always count on Austin for consistently awesome cuts and luxurious service. I’ve had tons of styles over the years and grown my hair out as well… no matter what look I’m going for, Austin makes it happen for me. He has his own brand of razors and everything. Highly recommend!”

The atmosphere is private and comfortable
“Austin gives an amazingly precise and detailed cut. I’ve never had a stylist pay such close attention to my haircut, he razor trims the edges for a perfect look. The atmosphere is private and comfortable, and it’s always nice to chat with him.”

- Thursday: 10 AM – 6:30 PM

For some people, a barber shop visit isn’t just about getting the haircut done. Take it from The Little Barbershop’s regulars! They’re always excited for a great service and a chat.
The atmosphere is a big charm. Visiting here means friendly barbers and the occasional cold beer during the cut.
What’s impressive is how knowledgeable they are. They cover all the classic haircuts and also do beard clean-ups and full shaping. If you’re feeling fancy, there are hot towel shaves and moisturising treatments available too.
The barbers are very easy to converse with. We loved that they walk clients through style options, talk about face shape and hair type, and even help figure out what would look best.
They would even check in with the clients during the cut, making sure everything is up to their liking.
Now, the main downside we noticed comes down to price. They’re more on the higher side compared to many neighbourhood barbers in Sydney. But based on what we’ve gathered, the overall experience makes up for it.
Excellent service and friendly staff
“Highly recommended. I came to get my hair cut after a year without one. I showed them reference photos, and they gave me advice and guidance every step of the way. I was very happy. Excellent service and friendly staff.”

I really enjoy the experience
“I’ve had about 4 hair cuts here now and I really enjoy the experience. Adrian is chatty but not intrusive, and I look forward to catching up every month. The space is relaxed and spacious, very different from the cramped and noisy barber shops I used to go to. Prices are ok too. See you again next month lads.”

3. NOAH Barber Sydney

Address: Strand Arcade, Level 2, Shop 127, 412/414 George St
Phone: +61 2 8386 3577
Business hours:
- Monday to Wednesday: 10 AM – 5:30 PM
- Thursday to Friday: 10 AM – 7 PM
- Saturday: 9 AM – 5 PM
- Sunday: 11 AM – 4 PM
Noah Barber Sydney has mastered the classic formula of good cuts, friendly conversation, and a relaxed atmosphere. Add in the bonus of being right in the middle of Sydney’s CBD, and it has definitely gained its spot in this list.
Even with a wide range of services, everything is done equally well. They do classic men’s cuts, beard trims, hot towel shaves, and even waxing.
We spoke with clients, and from that, we could say their technical side is their strength. They’re great with fades and understand the different hair types and styling products.
One customer even mentioned he walked away not only with a good haircut but with the practical advice on which products actually suited his hair.
Even those with curly hair were satisfied. Not a lot of shops could pull off services for curly hair.
Price-wise, they land in a reasonable middle ground for central Sydney. It’s not bargain-bin cheap, but we think the quality matches the cost.
That said, there are a few people who mentioned they didn’t feel completely heard when explaining their haircut preferences. We suggest explaining your preferences specifically, even if that would take a longer consultation.
I will absolutely be coming back here
“I will absolutely be coming back here. The price matches the service and quality perfectly. It’s really hard to find a barber who can cut curly hair, and who does bookings. It also has really calm atmosphere. Thanks Luana!!!”

I can’t recommend them enough
“N.O.A.H Barber in Sydney was an absolute gem of a find for me. I can’t recommend them enough, especially if you’re looking for a top tier haircut. Luana has a fantastic eye for detail, which she proved with the amazing scissor cut she provided. Throughout the whole appointment she conversed well and made me feel quite comfortable. The entire shop has a great vibe and a welcoming atmosphere. Do yourself a favor and book an appointment. You won’t be disappointed!”

4. Tate & Lyle Sydney

Address: MACQUARIE HOUSE, Shop 1/167 Macquarie St
Phone: +61 2 8054 2635
Business hours:
- Monday: 9 AM – 7 PM
- Tuesday: 8 AM – 7 PM
- Wednesday to Thursday: 9 AM – 7 PM
- Friday: 8 AM – 6 PM
- Saturday: 7 AM – 5 PM
If you’re the type who treats a visit to a barber shop as a full grooming ritual, then Tate & Lyle might be right up your alley.
The shop definitely looks the part. It leans heavily into a classic British barberhop aesthetic with dark woods, vintage tiles, and Chesterfield-style seating.
The barbers are great at throwing friendly banter with their clients. Complimentary beverages are also included with every service. From noon onward, that can include beer or whisky.
One of our researchers decided to have a haircut and beard trim here. He explained what he wanted, and the barber respectfully offered suggestions. It turned out to be even better than expected.
Just remember that pricing sits firmly in the mid-to-premium range. They’re also fairly strict about appointment times. If you’re more than about five minutes late, there’s a no-show penalty.
One handy perk worth mentioning is that they offer out-of-hours haircuts, but it comes with an extra fee too.
Would 100% recommend this place!
“Such a good experience at Tate & Lyle for a pre-wedding cut! Can’t speak highly enough of Josh who was brilliant from start to finish. Firstly, he really went the extra mile to resolve a booking issue I had made; was super friendly and welcoming; listened carefully to what I wanted for my hair; and then proceeded to give me a great cut (the sort that boosts your confidence 10-fold). Thank you! You really turned a stressful day into a really positive one. Would 100% recommend this place!”

Looking forward every single time to go in here for a haircut
“I have been going to Tate And Lyle for almost over a year now, and it’s been a great experience every time. Cain especially is a super friendly guy, and gets my haircut spot on every time. The atmosphere of the shop is very inviting and I always find myself rebooking, and looking forward every single time to go in for a haircut.”

5. Caveman Barbers

Business hours:

- Thursday: 7 AM – 7 PM

Caveman Barbers is one of those spots local in Sydney can’t stop talking about. The main draw? Mario, the lead barber. People love him so much that some actually travel back to Sydney just to get a cut from him.
One of our team members popped in to check it out, and it didn’t take long to see why. Mario is easygoing, chatty, and genuinely fun to hang out with.
Sitting in his chair feels more like catching up with a friend rather than getting a haircut. Some clients even loved it when he remembered their names.
The shop itself can hold its own against any full-service barbershop. They cover the usual haircuts, but also towel shaves, beard trims, and even face waxing.
One of us got his beard done while visiting and came away impressed. Mario took his time to shape it evenly and neatly.
However, our team also heard a few criticisms. A few customers felt that certain haircuts felt a bit rushed, especially for the price. A few clients also wished there were more attention to finer details.
I had a fantastic experience with Mario
“I had a fantastic experience with Mario at Caveman barbers. He always does a fantastic haircut but, more importantly, makes you feel very at home. Mario has a lot of wisdom to impart and, as a young man, I take his advice to heart. I cannot recommend Mario enough.”
