The 5 Best Custom-Made Tailors in Sydney Who Made It to Our Cut

Quality of Craftsmanship and Fit: We selected tailors who are known for their clean stitching, well-structured suits, and precise measurements. Those with good feedback regarding the comfortable fitting of their suits ranked higher.

Customisation Options: We favoured tailors who let you personalise the lapel styles, lining fabrics, and fabrics of the suit. This way, your suit feels and looks exactly the way you want it.

Pricing: We gave extra points to those with transparent pricing. Tailors who also clearly explain what’s included in each package stood out. A bonus if they can tailor suits depending on a specific budget.

Customer Service: We looked for tailors who are also patient, responsive, and genuinely helpful. Those who make fittings comfortable without any pressure won our trust.

When my sister’s wedding invitation landed in my inbox three months before the big day, it came with three ominous words: “formal black tie.”

All along, I thought I was sorted. But when I stared at my closet, I realised I owned exactly zero outfits that could pass for black-tie worthy. The one suit I had was already too small for me.

Three months might sound like plenty of time, but scrambling for something that almost fits? That’s a recipe for stress.

So I dragged my friends and started looking for the best custom-made tailors in Sydney. After visiting several shops, reviewing portfolios, and talking to former clients, here are the tailors we found worth trusting!

How much do custom-made suits cost in Sydney?

A custom-made suit in Sydney can cost $900 to $1,500 for entry-level ones. The more premium the fabric and the more detailed the suit is, the more it gets expensive.

Zink & Sons Tailors is a great place to start if your current suit feels more “almost right” than truly perfect. With its long-standing, reputable presence in the tailoring industry, we trust that its team has refined its processes over the years.

They specialise in bespoke suits, featuring high-quality fabrics and meticulous stitching. Looking into their portfolio, it’s not surprising that clients consistently praise their bespoke pieces as becoming their favourite garments.

They’ve also done a lot of wedding suits in the past. We found them a solid choice if you’re looking for a tailor who understands the importance of fit and comfort on a big day.

The store is very welcoming too. From the moment you walk in, the staff are attentive and accommodating, showing genuine respect for your time and needs.

What we especially appreciate is they also craft women’s suits, a very inclusive and thoughtful offering that makes their services more accessible to a wider range of clients.

And for those who need adjustments rather than a full bespoke piece, Zink & Sons alteration service is reliable too.

The main downside is pricing. Their strong reputation and level of craftsmanship come at a premium, which many not suit every budget.

If you’ve got a big event coming up and don’t want to gamble on off-the-rack suits, Pascalis Bespoke Tailoring is worth considering.

They specialise in wedding suits, shirts, and sports coats. Not all tailors personalise sports coats, and it’s reassuring that we found a shop that can deliver a polished look for both formal and semi-casual occasions.

Their 20 years of experience is also impressive. This gives them a big advantage over those new tailoring shops that may still be in the process of fine-tuning their processes and craftsmanship.

What we really like about them is they’re very accommodating to clients who already have a particular fabric or grades of wool in mind. This is such a huge advantage for those who want to truly personalise their suit.

Location is another plus. Clients often mention how easy it is to drop by for their concerns and fitting schedules.

Jus expect longer lead times and limited availability, since they’re one of the most in-demand bespoke tailors in Sydney.

  • Has suit alteration services

The Tailor Khallouf stood out to us because of their superb customer service. Despite the small team, the way Ali handles every project is genuinely commendable.

Ali is very responsive and keeps clients updated on their suit progress. She also often calls to confirm every detail and ensure everything is aligned. This level of communication is reassuring and adds a distinctly personal touch to the experience.

When it comes to craftsmanship, the quality of the custom suits speaks for itself. Ali’s portfolio shows clean, well-executed suits and casual coats, all tailored with precise fit and attention to detail.

The fact that he has worked with Chris Hemsworth, Justin Hemmes, and Elsa Pataky is just impressive. It’s a strong endorsement of his skills from people who expect nothing less than the best fit and finish.

That said, The Tailor Khallouf is a smaller team and shop compared to other tailors out there. As a result, Ali can be quite busy at times, so some flexibility with scheduling may be required.

Pros

  • Decades of hands-on experience
  • Creates suits, overcoats, and formal wear
  • With alterations and restyling services
  • Fitted high-profile individuals
  • Timely delivery

Cons

  • Can get pretty busy

“Having worn Tom Ford and Dolce for many years, I didn’t expect to be so impressed with the cut and craftsmanship of Ali’s made to measure suit, his work rivals any luxury brand and his workmanship and service is next to none.”
