The 5 Best Pilates Studios in Sydney That Make You Feel Welcome

Instructor Experience and Qualifications: We prioritised a Pilates studio with certified instructors and a strong background in classical and contemporary Pilates. Those who have experience working with different fitness levels and body types stood out.

Class Size and Variety: We selected studios offering a range of classes, like Reformer, mat, and clinically-based Pilates. We also made sure to choose those with small class sizes for personalised attention.

Studio Quality: We picked studios with clean and calming spaces, where students can focus on stretching and strengthening. We also considered proper lighting, ventilation, and overall comfort of the place.

Pricing: We compared class packs and membership options and chose the ones that offer great value for money. Those with affordable introductory offers were a big plus, especially for first-timers.

My friend and I recently started Pilates at a studio we found online. But the experience wasn’t as pleasant as we had expected.

The reformers were overcrowded, and the instructor couldn’t give everyone the attention they needed, especially beginners like us. We ended up leaving class feeling more stressed than when we arrived.

Desperate not to go through that again, we decided to do our research and find the best Pilates studios in Sydney.

Here are the Pilates studios that came highly recommended from locals for their favourable class sizes and attentive instructors!

How much does it cost to enrol on a Pilates studio in Sydney?

A class at a Pilates studio in Sydney may cost from $10 to $30 per class under a group mat session. Private sessions are more expensive, ranging from $100 to $150 per hour. Other factors that affect the rates include the equipment used.

We spotted True Pilates on George and had to check it out because they offer introductory packs – affordable and come in both semi-private and private sessions.

This is perfect if you’re just starting out and want to get a feel for it without committing to a full membership. We also find this helpful to those who have just switched studios and want to ease into a new environment.

Aside from that, we also appreciate the studio’s easy online booking process. They have an online calendar showing the available dates, classes, and instructors. This is super convenient for planning your week.

Their pricing is also reasonable. Be it semi-private, private, or duet, their rates seem fair.

There are also different numbers of sessions available, offering more flexibility to those with busy schedules.

The instructors are accommodating and friendly, but still professional during classes. They take the time to correct your form and offer modifications without making you feel intimidated.

Just one thing to note, they’re not open on weekends. Not ideal if you’re the type looking to fit in a class on Saturday or Sunday.

Pros

  • Introductory packs available
  • Easy online booking
  • Reasonable pricing
  • Friendly and professional instructors
  • Flexible class types
  • Well-maintained facility

Lovely experience

“I’ve been absolutely loving my experience at the Pilates on George studio. There is a great energy, and the regular email updates have been such a nice touch—some of the topics and even just small comments have really resonated with me.

A special shout-out to Niya, who has been incredible. She’s bubbly, knowledgeable, and knows exactly how to challenge you while still listening to your body. I always leave her sessions feeling stronger and more confident.

I’ve also noticed a huge improvement physically—I’m seeing my physio far less, which feels like a massive win.

Thank you for creating such a welcoming, supportive environment. I’m so glad to be part of it!”

Her clear cues and deep understanding of Pilates made the session both engaging and effective. Highly recommend if you’re looking for an excellent instructor and an awesome workout experience!”

With its convenient location near Central Station, True Pilates is a studio worth considering for its variety of classes.

They have Reformer and mat classes. This lets you choose the style that best fits your fitness level, flexibility, and goals.

We also find it a huge plus that they offer corporate Pilates classes, extending their services to those who need them most. Talk about office workers and teams who spend hours hunched over laptops.

Another thing we like about this studio is its small-sized private session option. With this setup, you’re not just another body in the room; you get personalised attention focused solely on you and your goals.

Instructors seemed well-experienced as well. They guide you so you can do all the exercises according to your ability level. They also don’t rush each session, giving you enough time to understand the movement and make proper adjustments as well.

The studio itself is clean and well-equipped with Reformers, mats, and mirrors. Students shared that it’s a kind of place where you can feel at ease while doing Pilates.

The only catch? Their classes are in demand, leaving you with limited spots. We recommend booking in advance, especially their initial duo assessment, to see if the studio and instructors fit you before committing.

Pros

  • Convenient location
  • Great variety of classes
  • Offers corporate Pilates
  • Has private or small-group sessions
  • Experienced instructors
  • Well-equipped and clean studio
  • Reasonable pricing

Cons

  • High demand

Excellent instructors

“I arranged weekly Corporate mat sessions for our business when we moved to Surry Hills, the sessions cater for complete beginners to seasoned Pilates goers. The instructors are excellent and guide you to do all exercises for your body and ability level, resulting in noticeable improvement in flexibility and strength. We always enjoy our sessions and they are a hot topic of conversation in the office. Can’t recommend Yung Ok and her team enough. Thank you”

– Ms. Julia C., Google Review

Patient instructors

“I had sustained an injury, and trying Pilates was recommended to me for my recovery. My partner had seen Yung Ok a while ago, and suggested I go and see her. I am truly impressed. Yung Ok’s instructions are clear and her friendly and positive attitude will make you feel comfortable and at ease. I have never done anything like Pilates, and my coordination was virtually non-existent when I started – Yung-Ok’s patience is that of an angel. If Pilates is what you want to do or learn, then this is the place to do it.”

PilatesBarre has 6 locations across Sydney, proving they’re a real pro in teaching Pilates. But their CBD branch? We can’t help but notice it because of its great studio.

It’s clean, and the combination of calming colours just got us. Everything you find in the room adds up to how calming the ambience is, which is important in Pilates.

On top of that, they have a pretty good Pilates class that we didn’t find at other studios. Talk about Cadillac, chair, mat, and even mums and bubs reformer classes. This is good news for those looking for such classes.

Also, they have these attractive and affordable passes, helpful for those who are on a budget but still want to do Pilates. They have $50 for the first five sessions and a monthly pass worth $250 (10 sessions).

You’ll not regret learning with their instructors as well. They’re the type of professionals who know how to support their students with the exercises without making you feel sorry because you’re a beginner.

Many students also mentioned how comfortable their instructors are with a great level of energy that’s contagious and inspiring.

However, they only have a few instructors, so make sure to book your class before they sell out.

Pros

  • Convenient location
  • Has multiple branches
  • Calming studio
  • Unique Pilates classes
  • Professional instructors
  • Affordable class packs
  • Easy online booking

Cons

Knowledgeable and supportive instructors

Amazing Pilates studio

“An absolutely amazing Pilates studio with professional instructors.

It is perfect for anyone who is looking to start their Pilates journey. I do 1 on 1 session with Ria and she is a star. Very patient and precise whenever we have a session! I’ve noticed my body is more upright after only a month of Pilates so it’s definitely worth the hype!!!!”

Scout Studios is another reputable studio that we can’t just ignore because of their signature classes.

We like their signature classes because they’re divided by skill level. For instance, they have Reformer beginners, Reformer elevate, and Reformer power jump.

Knowing that they have specific classes for every skill level is reassuring, especially for those who want a more comfortable session where they can build confidence.

We also find their new client offers a great start for those who are new to Pilates and looking for a more affordable option. The last time we checked, they had five sessions for 2 weeks for only $75.

How their instructors support every student is also something we admire. A student shared that her instructor encouraged her, as she’s totally new to Pilates. She also said that their instructors don’t judge them or push them on their limitations.

If there’s a downside to this clinic, it’s the variety of teaching styles among the instructors, which can feel a bit inconsistent at times.

A student mentioned that she attended the same class with different instructors, and the workout intensity varied significantly between the two.

Pros

  • Skill-specific signature classes
  • Supportive instructors
  • Affordable intro offer
  • Beginner-friendly environment
  • Clean facility and amenities
  • Professional and friendly instructors
  • Great variety of Pilates classes
  • Reasonable pricing

Cons

  • Inconsistent instructors’ teaching styles

Encouraging instructors

“Scout Pilates St Peters is my home studio of the three in the Scout family. They are all unique, but this is the one I visit most. The instructors are knowledgeable, encouraging, and really take the time to make sure everyone feels supported. The classes are thoughtfully designed, challenging just the right amount, and leave you feeling stronger and balanced. The studio itself is warm, welcoming, and calm  it’s a space that makes you want to come back again and again. I can’t recommend it highly enough. Clean with the amenities you need it’s all great. My favourite combo is a Reformer or MAT class followed by Stretch – sometimes the schedule makes it a little tricky to line up but when planning works out it’s bliss. Five stars!”

– Ms. Toni Francis, Google Review

Nice and clean studio

“It’s a nice, clean place with many good teachers. I’ve been going to Scout for a few months now and can see improvements in my health and stamina. Mandy and Chelsea are both great. Thank you.”
