The quote itself wasn’t surprising. What caught them off guard was the lack of clarity. There was little breakdown of costs, and there was little discussion of the long-term treatment plan or what to expect throughout the process.
So instead of committing right away, they stepped back and asked me to help search. We spoke to parents, reached out to top orthodontists in Sydney, and compared treatment approaches.

Their 50 years of experience are hard to ignore. They’ve handled and successfully treated a wide variety of cases over the years, giving us confidence in recommending them to other patients.
Their treatment offerings are pretty extensive as well. Aside from traditional braces, they also offer ceramic braces, Invisalign, and lingual braces. The flexibility gives patients the chance to pick the option that best fits their lifestyle and budget.

We really appreciate how Dr. Gareth Ho from Simplybraces tries to make orthodontic care more accessible. He offers a 10% discount on the first consultation.
We also find Dr. Ho’s offerings very comprehensive. He offers traditional metal braces, clear aligners, and self-ligating braces. We can say that he has almost everything in his clinic.
We also think that his use of advanced and modern technology helps him plan more effective treatments for patients. He does 3D facial scanning, 3D intraoral scanning, and 3D x-ray imaging.
Patients we talked to also appreciated how warm and friendly Dr Ho is. He knows how to deal with her clients, regardless of age, and to make them feel welcome and safe.
For instance, a parent commended Dr. Ho for keeping her daughter entertained and comfortable throughout the complex dental case.
However, Simplybraces functions with a single practitioner, which could mean limited availability.

Norwest Orthodontics caught our attention because of its lead orthodontist, Dr. Shimanto Purkayastha, who is twice-certified as an orthodontic specialist.
This solid credential is evident in his leadership of a team of professional orthodontists, who consistently provide high-quality care to their patients.
Patients we talked to also praised Dr. Darren and Dr. Sandra for going above and beyond to address challenging orthodontic cases. Many especially appreciated the personalised attention they received.
Their treatment offerings are comprehensive too. They can handle pretty much everything, from early orthodontic treatment for children to self-litigating braces for adults.
When we looked at the before-and-after photos of their patients, the improvements were clear. There are noticeable alignment corrections and well-finished results.
We also appreciate that they offer no-interest payment plans, perfect for patients who can’t pay their treatment in a lump sum.
The slight downside? Norwest Orthodontics has a smaller team than others, which affects its availability and scheduling.

Mehta Orthodontics won us over with their modern treatments, especially 3D-printed clear ceramic braces and digital imaging.
Having advanced planning tools and processes like this allows for better-fitting appliances. This way, patients can achieve greater comfort and more predictable results.
It’s also worth mentioning that Mehta Orthodontics is led by Dr. Atul Mehta, who has international experience and university teaching involvement in orthodontics.
They’re not selective about their clients either. From kids to adults, they welcome patients of all ages and offer personalised orthodontic solutions.
Apart from that, their complimentary initial assessment is really helpful. Patients shared that their assessments were detailed, and they didn’t feel rushed throughout.
Their whole staff is also the type of encounter you’d want to go back again. They’re caring and accommodating to any questions. The receptionist also checks patients in quickly as they arrive at the clinic.
We’re just disappointed with their email communication. It can be quite unresponsive. If you have concerns, we recommend skipping their online form and calling them directly for a faster response.

Smile Team Orthodontics was also hard to miss because of their 3D and intraoral scanning, which provide quick, more precise results.
Patients we spoke with said they were surprised by how fast the process felt. This is mainly because the clinic’s digital technology also allows for shorter appointment times without sacrificing the treatment plan.
We also love Smile Team’s on-time guarantee. If you’re left waiting for more than 15 minutes, they’ll refund you $25 (for each 15-minute increment).
They also carry almost any orthodontic solutions. They can meet your orthodontic needs, from Invisalign aligners to ceramic braces.
The orthodontists are great too. They really know how to make patients feel at ease and comfortable, especially kids.
We’re just disappointed to hear reports about the front desk staff being somewhat unwelcoming. Not a deal-breaker, but worth noting, especially for first-time patients.
