The 5 Best Ramens in Sydney for Big Bowls and Big Flavours
My younger siblings are obsessed with watching Naruto, and that’s how I found out his ultimate comfort food is ramen. I’ve always wondered what makes it so good, so the first chance I got, I had to try it.
Now, anytime there’s a ramen spot nearby, I make it a point to see how they put their own spin on it. Over time, my friends and I have tried quite a few ramen places around Sydney.
While many are decent, only a handful actually deliver that “wow” bowl that keeps us coming back. We put together a list of the best ramen restaurants in Sydney, so you’ll know exactly where to go when you’re craving a big, satisfying bowl.
How much does a ramen cost in Sydney?
A regular bowl of ramen in Sydney usually costs around AUD $18–$25, depending on the spot. It’s cheaper in casual joints and pricier if it’s fancy or stacked with toppings.
1. Mensho Tokyo Sydney

Address: 2 Temperance Ln
Phone: +61 404 075 437
Business hours:
- Monday to Friday: 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM, 5 PM – 9:30 PM
- Saturday to Sunday: 11:30 AM – 9:30 PM
Mensho Tokyo Sydney is known for precision and experimentation. It was founded in 2005 by Tomoharu Shono.
What stood out immediately about them was their noodles. They make the noodles in-house using Australian brown wheat that’s milled on site.
We tried it, and it’s chewy, fresh, and structured enough to hold up to richer broths. Even when opinions on broth flavour vary, the noodles themselves are rarely criticised.
The Toripaitan ramen comes with pork, chicken, and duck. It gained a lot of praises so our team had to try it.
We loved the dried enoki on top. It added some crunch and contrast to the creamy broth.
They have a lot of experimental bowls here, like the Wagyu ramen using chocolate-fed Mayura Station beef or the duck and matcha ramen.
The lobster bisque ramen is visually dramatic, though a lot of people weren’t satisfied with its broth. Some mentioned a slightly sour note and that it didn’t deliver the lobster flavour they expected.
The ingredients are undeniably premium, though. The prices are high compared to the portion they serve.
My new favourite ramen spot in Sydney
“Wanted to try this place for soo long since it opened in Sydney and today we got to! Came a 15 minutes early expecting a line but we were front of queue. Service was quick, food exquisite and delicious. I ordered the signature toripaitan. Nice thick chicken broth which was very creamy and the pork, duck and chicken were amazing. We also got the Aji Fry and Kurozu Karaage which I think are a must try. My new favourite ramen spot in Sydney”

Best ramen I’ve ever had
“Best ramen I’ve ever had. I went with some friends and one was first in line. They told her to wait until we all arrived and would be on a list. We waited 20 minutes once we all arrived but they gave us a menu so we could look and tall together. Once we sat down, they gave us some ennoki chips to apologise for the wait but we were surprised, it was so lovely of them! And once we got our noodles, WOW!! So creamy and filling. I got their cheapest ramen, the classic ramen for about $26 and it was worth every dollar. Service was amazing, the food once ordered came out relatively quick ans the quality was off the charts. Highly HIGHLY recommend and worth the wait time.”

2. Ramen Zundo

Address: Level G/644 George St
Phone: +61 2 9264 6113
Business hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 11:30 AM – 9 PM
- Friday: 11:30 PM – 10 PM
Ramen Zundo’s most praised ramen is the tonkotsu ramen, and it’s not surprising once you try it.
We’ve heard that the broth is made from pork bones cooked for a long time. That slow process shows up in the bowl. It’s creamy and full of depth, but we also noticed that it never becomes too heavy or greasy.
The thinner noodles used for the tonkotsu also came up a lot in feedback. They’re made with a mix of standard and whole-grain flour. It’s just the right bite rather than going soft too quickly.
The toppings are classic and generous: soft chashu pork, bamboo shoots, nori, and a half onsen egg that ties the whole thing together.
What we also love is the variety. The menu covers multiple ramen styles and allows for customisation with different broths, spice levels, and toppings.
That flexibility makes it ideal for ramen fans who like to tweak and experiment.
Where Ramen Zundo starts to lose points is in customer service. While we didn’t experience it during our visits, we’ve heard about reports of rude staff encounters and the lack of accountability when issues are raised.
I was genuinely satisfied with the rich, deep broth
“It’s been a while since I had ramen, but this was truly delicious. Sydney never disappoints. I usually avoid tonkotsu ramen unless I’m back in Kyushu. It often disappoints. But this time I took a chance and ordered it. I was genuinely satisfied with the rich, deep broth. I definitely want to come back.”

I am not usually a big fan of Ramen but it was really good
“We almost missed this place while looking for a place to eat and I am so glad we didn’t. It is tucked away in one of the side alleyways so keep an eye out for it or you will miss it. The seating was a little tight but that contributed to the atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially when choosing our items from the menu. The food was delivered quite quickly especially as the place was fairly full. The food was really delicious plus very filling. I am not usually a big fan of Ramen but it was really good. I can highly recommend if you are a fan of authentic Japanese food and even if you are not give it a try. You will not be disappointed.”

3. Nichi Getsu Dō

Address: Shop 2/355 Kent St
Phone: +61 419 876 712
Business hours:
- Monday to Saturday: 11 AM – 2 PM, 5 PM – 9 PM
- Sunday: Closed
Nichi Getsu Do is a ramen spot built for people who care about miso done right. The original or special miso ramen is the most talked about.
It’s made with six imported Japanese miso types blended into a pork-chicken-vegetable broth, topped with walnut rayu chilli oil.
The result is a bowl that hits bold, deep flavours without feeling as heavy as tonkotsu ramen. We really loved the umami and subtle sweetness in the broth.
The noodles are thick, chewy, and perfectly cooked too.
The restaurant leans on authenticity. We found out that Nichi Getsu Do was born from a 30-year friendship between owner Curtis Cifunetes and Kobayashi, the original founder in Saitama.
Some Australian tweaks, like wok hei vegetables for added smokiness, give it a subtle twist while keeping the Japanese roots intact.
They also have an efficient service. They offer quick delivery, complimentary water, and little extras like disposable aprons for diners in pristine shirts.
Some cautionary points do emerge. Like other diners, we found the toppings to be a bit salty.
Great service from a nice staff
“My absolute favorite ramen place. This is the only shop with real, deeply flavorful broth. The veggies are perfectly tossed in a wok, and the food is always piping hot. I’ve been coming here for a year, and the incredible flavor and consistency never change. Great service from a nice staff. Highly recommend!”

If you enjoy great Ramen, this is the place to go
“If you enjoy great Ramen, this is the place to go. My wife and I have visited many Ramen restaurants throughout our travels and we both agree that Nichi Getsu Do was one of the best that we have sampled outside of Japan. The menu had 5-6 Ramen options along with some appetizers. We tried the lightly fried pork gyoza, cabbage umami salad, minced pork Ramen and a spicy pork Ramen. All were wonderful…”

4. Ramen IPPUDO Westfield Sydney

Address: Shop 5021/188 Pitt St
Phone: +61 2 8078 7020
Business hours:
- Monday to Tuesday: 11:30 AM – 8:30 PM
- Wednesday: 11:30 AM – 7:30 PM
- Thursday to Saturday: 11:30 AM – 8 PM
- Sunday: 11:30 AM – 7:30 PM
Ramen IPPUDO has an impressive ramen menu. It offers classics like Shiromaru and Shoyu, and some modern twists with seafood or spice.
The people’s favourite is the Akamary Special, and it’s easy to see why. It’s a tonkotsu broth mixed with a secret miso paste, black garlic oil, double chashu pork belly, and black fungus.
It’s rich and layered, with flavours that are spicy, savoury, and aromatic all at once. For those who want a spicier option, the karaka-men delivers real heat.
The interior does a lot to lift the experience above the usual food court vibe. The curvy wooden design and dim lighting give it a more elevated feel.
The staff are friendly and attentive. We also love that we can customise our own toppings.
On the flip side, some customers also noted that the seasoning can be extremely salty for them.
Very nice ambiance for ramen enjoyment
“Very nice ambiance for ramen enjoyment. Many ramen places are good but this is the most spacious one. If you like to chat over some ramen and liquor then this is the spot. I liked the top tier bonito soup ramen, great egg.”

One of the best ramen spots in the city
“Visited Ramen IPPUDO in Westfield Sydney, and it’s consistently one of the best ramen spots in the city. The tonkotsu broth was thick, flavorful, and perfectly balanced, and the noodles had that ideal springy texture. The chashu melted in the mouth, and the soft-boiled egg was perfectly done. The staff were attentive and welcoming, keeping the experience smooth even during busy hours. It’s the perfect stop for a comforting bowl of ramen right in the heart of the city — quick, delicious, and always reliable.”

5. Yasaka Ramen

Address: 126 Liverpool St
Business hours:
- Monday to Wednesday: 11 AM – 9 PM
- Thursday to Saturday: 11 AM – 9:30 PM
- Sunday: 11 AM – 9 PM
Yasaka Ramen has two storeys, so heading upstairs means a bit of a stair climb. Once seated, ordering is simple thanks to QR codes. The staff is also consistently friendly and attentive.
The standout here for us is their broth. Their signature tonkotsu is simmered for over 10 hours, resulting in a deep and rich flavour.
People highlighted how the broth balances intense umami without feeling overpowering.
For fans of large, over-the-top ramen, the King Mashi Mashi ramen has become something of a legend.
It’s packed with grilled pork rib, slow-cooked braised pork belly, chashu, egg, and more. In short, it’s a massive feast.
Some people mentioned that the pork is tender with a subtle charcoal flavour that elevates the dish. We also loved that they offer extra noodle refills.
Happy hour (3 PM – 6 PM) deals also make it accessible for those wanting a satisfying meal. It comes with ramen, a side, and a drink for a reasonable price.
That said, we’ve heard of a few cons. Some customers noticed that there are certain ramen dishes that can feel greasy or heavy.
Highly recommend if you love authentic Japanese ramen!
“One of the best ramen spots in Sydney! 🍜 The broth is rich and flavorful, simmered for hours for that perfect umami taste. The Grilled Chashu Ramen is amazing — smoky, tender pork and super smooth noodles. Loved the Prawn Gyoza (crispy bottom, juicy filling) and Karaage Chicken (crunchy outside, soft inside). The Chicken Katsu Curry Rice was also delicious — sweet, rich curry just like in Japan. Cozy atmosphere, friendly service, and great value. Highly recommend if you love authentic Japanese ramen!”
